Nominal size

Nominal size is the ordinaty commercial size by which timber or lumber is know ans sold on the market, but which may differ from the actual size. For example, two by fours have nominal dimensions of 2 inches deep and 4 inches wide, but are atually about 1-3/4 inches deep ans 3-1/2 inches wide.
